It’s been 24 hours since the release of the recent trailer and everyone is talking about it. Despite Disney trying to cover up the awful recent Aladdin teaser with the Will Smith Genie fail with the release of this teaser, I am still excited about it.
In the teaser you will notice quite a few things such as the characters new outfits, less of Olaf, and a lot of fall. Starting with the new outfits that a leaked picture accidentally got shown to the public revealing Anna and Elsa’s new looks, they are quite unique. Sticking with the same color scheme as the originals, but a complete different look is Elsa’s trench coat outfit. Elsa’s new outfit looks beautiful even without the coat on, underneath is an ice top similar to the ice dress she made in the first movie. Anna’s outfit dawns the new colors for the continuous fall theme, and her new hair style is way better than the first’s that made her look more like a young child. You can briefly see Kristoff’s new outfit that looks similar to his original one just with dark brown instead of gray. From the brief glimpse of Olaf, it doesn’t look like he has changed much at all.
Breaking down the trailer, you first see a frustrated Elsa trying to get to the ocean. My conclusion is that the five friends find themselves shipwrecked on this island and can’t get off that is why Elsa is trying so hard to leave. You also see Anna is later alone in a cave possibly hurt and Kristoff and Sven by themselves as well. Besides fall being the big takeaway from the teaser, much like the first’s was winter, you may also notice two new characters, one is a female, the other is a male who’s face was not completely shown as he is thrown into the air by wind. Which also leaves me to conclude that a new character with powers might emerge.
In the first Frozen movie the theme was winter with ice powers, now the next seasonal theme is fall and you can see a lot of wind taking place in this teaser; the new male character is picked up by wind and thrown into the air, leaves are blown by wind in the title sequence, and the first picture released of Elsa and Anna had wind blowing their hair.
Besides the possibility of having a new character with powers, there was these very weird crystals that are hanging in mid air in the Arendelle castle and if you look at the Frozen 2 poster, you will also notice them there hidden to look like a snowflake design. Some people are saying the designs on the crystals represent the four seasons which would go with the idea of a new character with fall related powers as I stated before.
Finally the teaser trailer as a whole had a darker tone to it, similar to the movie Brave especially with Anna trying to kill whatever was behind the camera at the end. I guess this will be the first dark princess movie if the movie is like the teaser.
